Paradise . The beach, the view and the food they had prepared for us to take was delicious! It was our choice to stay 6 hrs. 5 hours is enough!

Madriski has always been my favorite, maybe 2nd place if we consider cayo agua but if you don't want to expend 2 hours trip by boat on a rough sea, Madriski is the best option, clear water, white sand, snorkel zone, bath zone, is the paradise only 5 min from gran roque. This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world... really.

Beautiful key. The nearest to Gran Roque. White sand, turquoise waters. When you arriving at Los Roques, leave your baggage at the posada and go to Madrisqui. This key, switch you into paradise mode.

As it is the nearest island of the principal one where you usually stay is very recommendable with a good place to eat at the beach and the first impression what you are going to visit in the next days of your vacations.

Amazing island with clear blue water and magnificent wildlife. Take a trip by boat to the other islands and enjoy warm nights on the beach with the friendly locals.

Loved this beach, great swimming, great view of Gran Roques. We adopted a dog for a day...he met us when we got off the boat and stayed with us, in the shade all day. You have to visit Madrisqui.

It is really an impressive island, very close to Gran Roque. This makes the island overcrowded and I would recommend other islands. Very annoying loud music coming from the boats. I don't know how they allow that in such a peaceful paradise...

the closest beach/island options from Gran Roque - has a strip of beach and beautiful crystal clear turquoise water, especially at the point ('la punta'). Also a restaurant with decent food (single option, not like the one on Francisqui). But be aware that biting flies and some other sort of really tiny biting insect start to appear in the afternoons (I was there in Aug, no idea if it's year-round). Sitting in the water seemed to help

So i was googling any recent info about getting to Los Roques and what to think about when staying there. But all info was old so i will just freshen it up. First of all, the place is beautiful, no doubt but quite expensive if you are on backpacker budget. Also, i went alone and since the place is all about beaching all day it became quite boring., but hey that just me.When you book the plane from caracas or isla margarita there will be different "fixed" prices. One is 300 + 300 bolivares round trip which includes an over priced night at the airline hotel without any food. just towels and sheets. But it will be cheaper for the low budgeteer. Also they have prices about 1400-1600 without hotel. Safest airline is Aerotuy and here is where the prices come from. I suggest you to book a package before u go there with whatever u want included. I had a rough time finding a bed during low season so beware, and never go there on christmas or easter. Entrance fee is around 215 bolivares for foreigners. Also think about: Almost no way to make own food and all food in the supermarket is dirty, canned or just not suitable for any standards. So, include at least breakfast and dinner at the hotel. Dont expect to find anything cheaper than 1500 bolivares with breakfast and dinner. 2 fundives for the certified diver costs 1600 bolivares, do not do courses here, will be way cheaper in other places. There are many awesome paradise places in south america and this place is one of them but i dont believe its suitable for backpackers if u dont camp and like canned food. Please read about the currency situation in Venezuela by the other submitters. Oh, and this beach Madrisqui is maybe not the best but beaches are pretty much the same here, white sand, crazy pelicans and no possibility to buy any food except from the main island, gran roque.

A me é piaciuta molto e siamo tornati più volte
