Anakena beach is great for those who want to cool off a bit. The sun was really strong in Easter Island, but this little spot was the perfect choice for a day of relaxation. Although the water was a little cold in February, it was worth going there. The place is magical in my opinion, with the white sand beach and palm trees, and, as a bonus, you get to look at some Moai statues while swimming. You also have some restaurants with good food there, but you should order early, because the service is really slow there. Also, bring sunscreen and hats with you, because there are not many spots with shade.

The beach was in a small spot. White sand surrounded by grassed recreational area. There are places where you can set up a BBQ or enjoy the food from the two restaurants. The restaurants are straw huts, menu quite basic. There is a row of souvenir stalls next to the restaurants.

We had just a short time to visit and experience the advantages of this, one of very few beaches on Easter island. Unsophisticated, but a delightful setting with toilet, souvenir and refreshment facilities. The location is ideal for children, but has no sunshade provisions that one would associate with the massed ranks of Mediterranean resorts. Calm, shallow water make it an ideal destination for families, but do not forget the sun-block..!!

nonetheless, I cannot give it a high rating. It is the only beach on the island and thus always seems to be crowded

Nice little beach, one of the only two in the island, there is an "ahu" there so you can watch moais and spend a nice afternoon at the beach, with beer and food in the huts next to it.

A little ways outside of town, but not too far you can treat yourself to an amazing view while dipping your toes into the sand and water. Look to spend a few hours if not a whole day if the weather is warm. Our tour guide took us here the first day we arrived and we spent about an hour and half and to let you know how highly we thought of it we went back the next day spending nearly half the day enjoying the sun and water. It was a bit windy and cool, but visiting in September we expected as much. Also, the icing on the cake is that there are an amazing set of Moai's to enjoy right on the beach. Overall if you are looking for a beach, a great view and Moai then Anakena Beach is the right place for you!

One of the high points of our trip was spending time in this beautiful beach. There's a couple of tiny restaurants where you can have lunch while enjoying the view of the beach and an impressive ahu with moai. It also has a small building with bathrooms, a souvenir area and a guy selling the sweetest pineapple-on-a-stick that you will ever taste.

Bright sun, soft sand, huts with cerveza and warm water. Easy to use and fun looking at the Moai there.

This is a perfect beach. You should definitely make time in your Easter Island plans to go to a beach and this is everything you would want--wide sand, easy entrance, clear turquoise water, great little restaurants, palm trees--even some snorkeling (though not fabulous fish to see). There are moai and temples and the ruins of a town to see, too. This was historically a very holy and important place to the Rapa Nui. Have lunch here, but be ready to take your time. The toilets cost $1 per use.

It makes sense the Polynesian stayed on this island if the first thing they saw was this beach. Gorgeous setting. You can spend a whole day here if sand, turquoise water and palm trees resonate with you. On top of that you can channel your inner nerd and marvel at the Moais at this beach. If you plan on catching the sunset on this beach, which I highly recommend, grab some extra snacks from the food vendors at the beach, they close around 6pm and the sunset can last till 10pm if you visit during the island summer. I was lucky and right at sunset a whole team of horses took the beach, they were running all over the sand playing, some went into the ocean too, it was incredible.

This is a lovely beach with changing rooms and bathrooms. There are areas for picnics too and local vendors. Well worth the trip - the water is refreshing so bring your bathing suits.

I was so surprised by how beautiful this beach was in a place that generally doesn't have much beach, mainly just cliffs to the ocean. Tucked in a lovely cove with palm trees and even moai, it is a tranquil place to swim or just lounge on the beach with a good book. Don't miss going there is you are visiting Easter Island.

Anakena is a great beach for swimming, sunning and just hanging out. There are Moai to see as well. It also has several huts in which to eat or drink. There are very clean rest rooms there as well - a nice feature when traveling around Easter Island. Sometimes, a tour ship is visiting too - try to again those times!

Warm waters, white sands, heavenly environment. Suitable for swimming, safe and beautiful. 100% recommendable!

Four visits blessed by the sun - we enjoyed the beach. The water is lovely and the sand soft. Spread your beach towel away from a coconut tree lest a coconut falls on your head. Occasionally a horse or two might stroll by though it is more likely that you will see them grazing in the distance along with their foals. There are toilets near the car park - you will need to keep some small money to pay for their use. One day, we went in the rain so we did not go to the beach but sat in a shack (the central one is the best) and just looked out on to the ocean through the rain - very romantic and much recommended - while we ate the most delicious fried empanadas.
