This place was closed when we were there, but it is cute from the outside. It was a little hard to find but walkable from the main train station and if you follow the red footprints on the pavement which does a walking tour of Odense. There are also lockers in the Odense train station if you want to do this as a day trip and then move on. This house is situated in a quaint area of traditional Danish cottages. There are about 3-4 blocks in this area. The HC Anderson house does have a plaque on it so you can distinquish it. This is not to be confused with the HC Anderson museum which is in a different location although there is a small museum here.

We were told that this house was the birth place of H.C.Andersen. Very small and humble abode where it is alleged that three families lived.

This place is a very small house where H.C. Andersen grew up. There is not much you can see because he grew up in poverty. The ticket you buy from here for 95 DKK can be used at the H.C.Andersen museum wih no additional cost.

The childhood home of Hans Christian Andersen doesn't show much - but what it shows is as close to the authentic childhood home of the author as possible. Was his home really that small? Indeed is was - and a family were living and working here.

Small museum, which however was complementary to the Hans Christian Anders Museum: free admittance when you visited the other museum.Small extra museum (especially compared the main museum) but nice and clean. Duration of visit of 30 minutes should be considered enough.

You can walk to this from the museum but decided to just drive by to take a picture.. but we were able to find parking just around the corner.. So we decided to go in and happy that we did. One of the friendliest women on the entry/cash desk as well.. Stepped back into HC Anderson's life and bought a few souvenirs along the way..

This house gives you a little sample of Hans Christian Anderson's, early life. There's not much here, but it's great for a fly-in visit if you don't have much time in Odense. I recommend going here and then to the nearby afterwards for a more in depth look at his life and history.

I was just curious of what do they have inside this museum and I agree with some of the reviews about this place, there's nothing much. There's a room where you can watch a little introduction about him but in Danish, and if the visitors don't speak Danish then what??? The entrance ticket in my opinion is expensive, DKK 95 per adult, but Denmark is expensive with capital ''E'' Wandering around the town is more interesting.

This museum pays tribute to one of the more interesting writers of the 19th Century, the golden age of literature. It does a good job of detailing his life and times. It was an easy and relaxed visit for us and our kids (ages 6, 10 and 14 at the time) were quite taken with the experience. If you have the time to put this on your itinerary, you will be glad you did.

There's nothing much at this place. It's just some rooms with some details. However, staff there was very friendly and informative. You can ask her whatever you want to know about Andersen.

We went, saw and walked away wondering what was all the fuss about. If your in Odense, go and have a look as it is very close to pretty much everything.

A Great place to visit if you are a fan of his work like his paper cuttings and renowned stories such as "The Ugly Duckling". This story was supposed to be what Andersen thought of himself as ugly. Inside, explore his room, the courtyard, the attic bed, and much more. Such a talented young writer and storyteller was from this house, close to the City Centre.

The Childhood Home of H.C. Andersen is quite interesting an the place you want to go if you want a look into the life of H.C. Andersen. It isn't the house on the picture though (thats a restaurant close to H.C. Andersens Hus).

You could only see the house, that looked like any other old house from outside, and it's in pretty bad shape, only recommended if you are into Hans Christian Andersen
