It's about a 30 min ride and don't expect too deep explanations on Liechtenstein's history or extraordinary photo opportunities. Nevertheless, it's fun and you might meet and be greeted by friendly Vaduz folks and children, so I believe it's worth the fee.

Exactly one photostop at the Red House, which does not really have anything of the promised 'panorama'. For the rest not bad taped commentary, a bit too loud. Nothing spectacular. What they should make a lot more clear before selling is that the main highlight of town for us, the vistas from the Castle, are excluded. (You can visit it walking/Climbing or with own car, strange enough though the roads would allow it the citytrain does not cover. Maybe the demands for privacy from the castle inhabitants.)

When I first visit a city I always take a Hop-on-Hop Off bus to get oriented and identify attractions to visit later in my trip. Vaduz is a pretty easy place to get around and doesn’t take long to get to know your way around so Citytrain was the answer for not only the attractions, but also the history and lore. It gets you off the main drag and allows you to see how and where the locals live. Its not the best platform for taking pictures… go back along the route and catch the shots you missed.

Ride lasts for nearly 30 - 35 minutes. The so called train looks attractive from outside. However, the same is not comfortable inside. Bench like closely packed parallel seats welcome you inside. Not comfortable sitting position. From inside, outside views are available for persons occupying edge of bench seats. others have to struggle. No photography possible from inside for the same reason. When we enquired at counter, the lady there said train is about to come, but cannot guarantee tickets, as a group was waiting for the train. Luckily or otherwise, 10 tickets were vacant subsequently. She charged us (2 adults & 2 children) 31 swiss francs. Think family rate is still less as per others opinion, but this was the rate taken. Driver enquired about language option we would prefer. As german tourists were majority in the train, it was alternate german & english language all the way. To our dissappointment, german people would start discussing just after german commentary was over, limiting our audition. The so called train passes along narrow roads (correctly fitting the width of this vehicle). City is clean, small and because population is less, not many people or vehicles on road. Only photostop was near a so called vineyard. Not many things for photography there. All of us were thinking that there would be photostop for castle at a good place. It never happened. With only one photostop, and limited view from train, was wondering what is the purpose of this ride.Train passed through so called city centre also, where modern buildings, a chapel, shops and postoffice were seen. Train took a U turn here without stopping. We wished we were given time here, however again the sorry state of affairs. No getting down. By 30 minutes back at starting point and bye to vaduz & leichenstein. Would have been better with walking and exploration on our own. Dont recommend this ride at all. No photostops at attractions, too cramped seating arrangement and high cost for a ride of 30 minutes.Compared to other country tours, this is the worst we have come across.

We stopped in Vaduz during a car tour of the region. The city bus tour looked fun so we hopped on. The bus driver was friendly and offered the tour in several different languages. Our tour had English, German and Russian speakers so we heard the tour in all 3 languages. The best part of the tour? A tractor could not make a corner on a one lane road the train was driving on. The train driver had to give the tractor driver advice on what to do... Truly a funny moment.

Liechtenstein is small and we needed to see as much as we could within a short time because we were only there for 2 days. So we decided to see what we could of Vaduz via the little train ride. I dont remember the ticket cost but that was not so cheap and when we went Inside the train, we were surprised that anyway the driver was not even checking who had tickets or not. The train took us around Vaduz but not the castle, which was a desappointment as this is probably the main thing to check out in Vaduz. Otherwise, you go around the city quite quickly (it is only that small anyway) and then you can pick the places you might enjoy discover more, like the wine cellars. Interesting but nothing so special about that train ride.

The person at the ticket counter is quite chatty and managed to greet us in a number of languages he knew :-) As we were a group, he drove us himself. The center is quite small and we went through residential areas in 35 minutes. We saw the red house and the vineyards. Other than that, there were cars honking behind us and friendly drivers waving at us!It is better to walk around if you want to see the center and to take this train if you have to kill time or have some fun as a group!

The trip could be walked in about 1 hour in total , and the trip is almost entirely through the residential areas of Vaduz. You can walk it leisurely in 60 minutes. The tour is conducted in English, French and German. It cost us 6.60 EUR in Group for Aduld and 4.20 EUR for child. It is good if you are with Family, but depends on taste.

We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied on you recent roundtrip. Regarding the advice in the Liechtensteiner trip advisor, we want to clarify that the trip can be listened to in 29 languages, including English. At the “fotostop” you had the opportunity to ask the driver and let him know that you only spoke English. For each trip, we can play a maximum of 5 languages per trip.

Thank you very much for your valuation. We are pleased to note that the Citytrain Tour has met your approval – that’s what we aim for! We just won’t to adjust that the price for a single tour is 10.50 SWISS FRANCS (and not 10.50 EURO). Best Regards from Vaduz.

The high point of this ride through the Old Town was the stop at the "Red House", a Middle Age building with a late medieval gabled stairs.
  • eurotraveller262
A good way to see the town with an explanation in all languages.

This was an excellent way to kick off our visit to Vaduz. The info came in requested languages and was accompanied by lovely local music. The length of the tour was ideal, time to see everything but not so long that you lose interest. Good thing to do...

Worth the 30 minutes and price! Covers the basics of Vaduz with some history of Liechtenstein.
