Interesting story. Nice place close to center of town. Close to other sights. Easy access. Could be more guided in english.

Excellent Museum and despite misreading the opening times online before our trip, it was worth the wait until the next day. Only downside was the attitude of the local traffic police, who view this museum as bait to catch foreign drivers - our sons were tired and stayed in the motorhome whilst we went in - we parked in a line of local cars on the road outside with no apparent parking restriction - it was later explained this is a well known trap - They ticketed about dozen unsuspecting local cars - But ours got special treatment with them all posing in front of it to have their photo taken - My eldest son had to shout a warning when one policeman then pushed his camera though an open window to take photos inside the van - Spoiled an otherwise great day, though the parking ticket was only about £10.

A combined ticket gives access to 2 sites. At the reception you receive a leaflet with some general information on this UNESCO World Heritage and a very informative booklet with a comprehensive explanation of the tombs. Some have very beautiful frescos. A second site that is closeby has another decorated tomb. Unfortunately, some tombs cannot be visited other than by previous appointment. Like most museums, the site is closed on Mondays.

Very well excavated and displayed ancient burial grounds. You'll miss the real significance unless you take some sort of tour.

This is an extremely interesting site. It is well displayed and the site is well preserved. We were on a tour that explained the site very well.

it is hard to explain to the modern people the importance of these remains, but I beleive this heritage site makes the best.I was tehre many times and likes the modern stíle of exhibition and explanation.

This history site belongs to the World Heritage of UNESCO. The burial tombs are from the 4th century. The visitors' center is new and modern. You can find a lot of information on the wall tables and in the information books you get at the entrance. You can take photos if you want.

If you take the time to read the booklet and the information boards this is very interesting. I was impressed by the structure of the building built around the ruins to enable the visitor to look at the tombs from many different view points. It is very well researched and well presented.

Roman legions moved to Hungary in the beginning of he I century, so Panonia province where Pecs is situated has a lot to show. Bural hambers were discovered in 1716 during the construction of a school building in today's Syechenyi Square. Those ruins are not perserved. Today you can see Celle Septichora Visitor Center opened in 2007. This centre displays Peter paul burial chamber, The Wine Pitcher chamber, Burial chamber III, XIX, XX, memorial chapel with eight apses, The early Christian Mausoleum and early Christian Burial Chapel and Sepulchral Buildings.

Apparently ancient burials - Christian and pagan - have been found under a large area of central Pecs, but two sections are particularly relevant to tourists. (One ticket can cover both.) This bit, called the Cella Septichora, is the most extensive. Tunnels wind around taking you to things of particular interest - remains of Christian frescoes, a strange multi-lobed church... I found the experience interesting but claustrophobic, and was relieved to get out. People with limited mobility may have problems. There are lifts to get from one level to another if you can't manage the steps, but they might not be easy to find.

Although advertised as one of the main sightings in Pécs, I was not that impressed. Basically it is a small catacomb. If you expect to see something like in the catacombs of Paris, you will be disappointed.

Our local tour guide took us to see Cella Septichora and gave us a thorough historical and cultural overview of the sight. We were amazed by the condition in which the burial tombs were found and preserved, the cleanness of the sight and the remains of St. Peter and Paul fresco. Since it is right in the heart of the beautiful city of Pecs, it is definitely not a place to miss!

It is a unique place where you can have a look at an early christian cemetery from the 4th century in the basement, a cathedral on the "ground floor" and the ruins of an old university from the 13th century. This is a real time travel in some hundreds of meters without special device. You can use your feet :-)The Early Christian Mauzoleum can be found close to the Cella Septichora. There is a Cella Trichora on the next corner,too. Unfortunately Cella Trichora can not be visited. It was excavated by the local archeologists, then it was filled in again due to the lack of money.

Really needs to read in depth about this history of the burial tomb.It a very small place that can be looked at the glass deck into it and see a painting from bible people.
