This church is open for you to wander around. It is a lovely building and has some interesting religious artefacts in it. When we went there was an event happening in there and the family invited us to join in. It is tucked away down one of the old cobbled street so gives you a real sense of Corfiot history.

A church dedicated to the patron saint of Corfu, St Spyridon. The church and it's bell tower are points of reference to any corfiot and visitor alike.Be respectful to the believers (no short short skirts or deep necklines, etc, otherwise you are ok) and be quiet when entering. You can leave a coin and light a candle if you'd like, and visit the relics of St Spyridon. Also, take a minute to notice how byzantine and the orthodox christian style mix with the catholic christian style, because of the italian influence on the local culture. In the nearby streets you will perhaps buy your kumquat marmalades, drinks and sweets, as well as other suvenirs, mostly.

St.Spiridon is the historic church of the Corfu island ,very easy to visit, located in the center of the old town. The interior of the church it's more like a museum than a church!!!

This historic church is really beautiful. St Spiridon is the Patron Saint of the island and his remains are in a casket in this church. It is in the heart of the Old Town of Corfu and well worth a visit.

It was lovely, discovered on an evening tour. So I went back a couple of days later. Sat and watched and soaked up the spiritual atmosphere and feelings. An honour to touch saint spiros cascat. I have a piece of his cloth and holy water, he guided me home and I will return.

The church of Agios Spyridon is truly beautiful. He interested me greatly and I asked the maid in our villa all about him and she told me she had been told she was dying and 5 others in her family had been very seriously ill. They all went to the church to ask for his help 3 of them died of old age and everyone else is still alive and for her it was a miracle to be told her cancer had gone. I am very ill so my Husband took me to ask for his help. I knew what was expected of me with the kissing of his feet, the kissing of the Icon and also the kissing of the bible also the candles. I bent to kiss his feet and I can honestly say I felt just very very gently a hand being placed on the back of my head. It was truly remarkable. The wonderful people of Kerkyra passionately believe in this Saint so so much and it rubs off on you when you go in. The deep deep belief and respect by these lovely Corfiots is remarkable. What did annoy me was all these tourists just wandering in, women wearing strappy t-shirts, shorts not even a sun hat on and the noise they all just kept gabbing and I found it very noisey. if folks are going to visit a place that has to be greatly respected and should be, well, com'on show some respect at least. Mobile phones going off, people laughing and gibbering, do that outside but not in such a glorious peaceful, quiet place. I almost lost my temper with a few of them. So if you are going to be respectful then yes this is a most amazing place and that casket, wow but if your not going to even bother covering yourself up for 5 minutes just to show some kind respect then don't go. If I do survive then I will be back just as soon as I possibly can that is for sure.

I visited today, a Saturday afternoon, and though the town was crowded with visitors and residents, the church visitors were reverent and had come to kiss the relic and pray. I was one of the few Americans there at that time . It is a beautiful and holy place, much loved by the Greek people. The outside street is covered with shops and cafés so it is very popular. Stop by to see this special church.

On CORFU many men have the name of SPIROS derived from AGIOS SPIRIDON to witch this church is dedicated. The church is one of many highlight of the crumbling old town KERKYRA.The pained cieling is interesting, free entrance

Well worth a visit even if just to look at the architecture and art work that's on show throughout, there are a couple of nice restaurants outside as well for a drink or snack.

As we Russians belong to the same orthodox branch we did visit the church. Participated in the service and honorered St. Spiridon hallows. The Cathedral itself is rather chamberlike and cosy, always full of people - St. Spirirdon is the protector of Korfu. The simpliness of the Cathedral is due to the fact that the inhabitants of Corfu did not want the turks to recognize it as a church and destroy it.

I agree with the other reviewers--it was pretty crowded the day we went but it was pretty impressive. Do not miss it, but it will not take long to see it, even if you wait in line.

St Spyridon is the patron of the Island and this is the main church. It is also the explanation of why so many men here are called Spyro. It is quite a small chuch in the old Town and it gets busy.It is definitely worth a visit if you are in Corfu even if you are not religious. The ceiling is beautifully painted and will remind you of Italian rather than Greek churches. The rest of the interior is however definitely Greek Orthodox.

St Spiridon is the patron saint of the island and the church is quite impressive - one should not miss it as this is an essential Corfu town experience. However, it's not huge and is frequently so crowded that being there is neither a long nor a very pleasant experience. So - go in, light a candle, take a look around and be on your merry way.

The church was so busy with tourists we didn't linger very long but took some photos from outside in the little alley full of interesting shops and cafes

Seeing Agios Spyridon tower & church was one of our main goals while in Corfu. We were walking so it was quite a way to get to it from the New Fortress. But, we didn't mind because the town was lively and had so much to see along the way. Once we finally found the church, we were a bit disappointed for several reasons: 1) it was quite busy 2) no fotos (not sure if they were allowed or not, just didn't want to go in because people were there to worship) 3) because it was busy, we wouldn't dare interfere with people there to worship. So, that pretty much meant we'd walked all that way just to 'see' it and then leave. I would recommend you see it regardless. It is quite beautiful, plus there are plenty of little shops & hidden treasures all around!
