We visited here in late October 2013. We had been in Paris 2 years earlier and had missed being able to visit the gardens as they close from 1 November so this time we made sure we were in Paris prior to this date to be able to do this visit. We booked through France Tourisme on rue des Augustines. There were only 6 people on the bus so they took a minibus with us on it. We went through the house and enjoyed this but the gardens even at this time of year when the autumn colours are still evident, was spectacular. We went around it twice as the first time rain had just ceased and it was still overcast but a little later, the sun had come out and we went around the garden again to see it in a different light and for different types of photos. The only disappointing part of the trip was that the driver left us to our visit until 11.30am when it was time to return and the other passengers on the bus had walked into town and looked at some spectacular gardens there. We were disappointed that the driver did not tell us this and those who did see the extra gardens also expressed disappointment that this had not been mentioned and that they were lucky to have taken this walk whilst waiting for the return trip back to Paris. This was certainly worth seeing and glad we had the opportunity at last to see the gardens.

We've been there twice, both trips a few years ago, and we are still using the photos we took to create beautiful prints and greeting cards. It's just beautiful. Go early, right when they open, and move quickly through the gardens and skip the house at first. Head for the water lilies to beat out the bus tourists. You can then get your own water lily photos and your touristy shot of the family on the green bridge without all the extra people in your shots. Then you can take your time meandering around the rest of the gardens and save the house tour for last. You are not allowed to take photos in the house but you can get a few nice shots out the top floor windows.

This is one of the most magical places you can visit when you are in Paris and have enough time for some day out of the city. Even gardens in and around Paris are multiple and great, I would say that this one of Giverny is in my top 3, together with Albert-Kahn museum (a piece of Japan in Paris) and Versailles (of course). So don't hesitate and take the train or car for an unforgettable experience. Better try to avoid weekends, since the place uses to be packed and is not so big for such demand. Near the gardens you will also visit the American Impressionists Museum (buy combined tickets) and will find several nice places for eating, drinking or taking an ice cream... do you need more?

In late September while visiting Paris, we booked a small group tour with Paris City Vision to visit Giverny. Specifically, Claude Monet's garden and house. Our tour guide Gregory was exceptional. I believe everyone usually remembers breathtaking sites, but what made our day special was Gregory. He was extremely knowledgeable about pointing out sites on our trip to Giverny, so in effect we had a tour of Paris and the surrounding countryside. In addition,he added excitement and humor to the guided tour, which made this trip very memorable for all of us. This is a definite trip one should take while visiting France. I would recommend booking with Paris City Vision a small group tour and ask for Gregory. You will not be disappointed.

I went to Giverny on a hot, busy holiday but still found th experience of the gardens magical. The driver took care to point out places of interest both on the way there and the way back, which made the experience even better!!

I visited Monet's gardens with some misgivings. First of all, I find gardens and gardening of little interest, and secondly, I went in Autumn, so I didn't expect to see many flowers. Well, I decided to get my head straight while on the train to Giverny (the train leaves from Gare St Lazarre in Paris). So, because I enjoy a bit of photography, I decided to to take photos as the artist, himself, may have (that is, had digital photography existed during his time. With this attitude under my belt, I had a thoroughly enjoyable day being challenged photographically by the gardens. My attempts at reproducing Monet's vision may not have been very successful, but I had a good time doing it. Overall, the place is well maintained and is a visual feast.

I have visited several times- my favorite is late June when the wisteria is blooming on the bridge and the roses are gorgeous. Later you will see summer flowers- nasturtium, sunflowers. The way they plant is so amazing- there are low flowers and higher ones and everything flows together. When you walk around the pond the bushes are blooming. Remember to look at the water- Monet painted the reflection as much as he painted the actual trees. You will love it here.Allow a full day to enjoy it all. From Paris, take the train from Gare St Lazare to Vernon, and there are buses to take you over to Giverny. RECOMMEND: be there when it opens, and take pictures quickly, then go over to the pond. Within an hour it will be swarming with people. You can go back and look around, but to get the "money shots" of the garden, be there before it opens and get in line. Then you can go have a nice lunch and see the Impressionism museum down the street. The gift shop at Giverny is great- allow time to browse, just remember it is very busy. I would not go on a weekend. Also, make sure it is a sunny day.One of my favorite places on earth!!!!!!!

We took a bus out for the day. Beautiful gardens, (odd road crossing situation) and really cute kitchy house. The lake is actually across the road in a separate garden and was probably my favourite part. Worth a visit

My partner and I took a day trip to Monets house and garden in the Spring season. We decided on a coach trip as we were not sure of the trains from Paris. We regretted this decision as the coach was delayed and had no air-conditioning on a hot day. The tour guide was great speaking many languages, very impressive. However the agency office pickup point was overcrowded and badly organised. We will try the train next time. On a happier note the trip was well worth it. The house and garden was absolutely beautiful! Full of flowering colours - red Irises! For art lovers and garden lovers I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. The house is kept in its original form, not large, a real home overlooking the gardens. After a walk we arrived at the Lily pond so famous from his paintings with its little bridge. It was absolutely wonderful and I still think of it as a place of great beauty. I plan to make one more visit to this beautiful place. If you are in Paris its a must see.

We made a special visits to this locatation on our drive from the coast back to Paris. I enjoyed seeing whether the great artist lived and did some of his best work. It is worth a stop.
