In this place you can have both, sunrise and sunset view and also your inner peace. I have been for 2 years in a row and every time I will have a vacation at the seaside, I will visit this place every time I have the occasion to have at least 1 hour of inner peace. I think not the castle itself, but the noise of nature and the view from the top of the hill worth it.Also from this place, you can drive from half an hour to Jurilovca and take the boat to Gura Portitie where you can have a hole day of inner peace.(also recommend to families with young children).

Very good position for not only admiring the wonderful scenery, but also the wildlife (if one owns a good binocular and / or photogun).A trip back in time, too. Pity that there is no better documentation on site.

It's been already 4 years since I've visited this castle but it is still deep in my mind. Not the castle itself...but the area, the charm, the views..a place where somehow you feel in touch with the place and the history. The castle is not in the best shape and it is not very "complex". A place which was visited by the byzanthians, genoveze, turks...whatever(i don't recall the history..just google for more details). It was the place of a garnison which was guarding an area close to the Danube entrance in a time when the shore was still part of the Black Sea(now it's just a lake). What I liked about the place it's that it is not a very tourist/commercial place. not so many visitors, the sun is hot, a bit windy, quiet and dusty(although the access and roads are great). You leave your car in the parking, walk a bit to the top of the hill and you feel yourself immersed in the landscape. You can imagine very clearly the life of those soldiers, so far away from their homes. The views are great, access is good. Finally a small trip in Dobrogea is a good idea; don't just go to the sea side. There are a few places like this, you can visit old castles, Danube Delta, fishing villages , great sea side natural landscapes and end up in the sea side resorts for the fun

It make sense to visit it and from Tulcea or Murighiol is only half a day trip. The fortress built on XIV on the Black Sea coast is guarding today the lake Razelm (former bay of the Black Sea). Been placed on top of a hill , you'll find wonderful views over the surroundings areas. The fortress is consider as museum but you'll not find a guided tour or a guiding leaflet. There are some walls and one tower. From the parking place you should walk a little bit to the fortress. More details about the place you'll find on this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarichioi. Take some water with you because into the fortress there are no options to buy liquids.

The ruin has nothing outstanding by itself. Not well maintained, no signs, no historical explanation. Entrance is very cheap (less than a dollar) but I would have happily paid more for a better experience. You can buy a flyer from the ticket seller, and thats it.No service whatsoever, no toilet, no restaurant, not even a mobile snack/beverage shop. However, the surroundings are impressive, as the fortress is on a hill near the swamps around the Danube Delta. The view is quite unique.

Castle Enisala is a relatively well preserved Medieval fortress with stunning views of the black sea. If you are coming from Constanta it is a relatively easy drive, our GPS gave us a bad turn in the city outside but otherwise did ok. The road we used to access the site was off of 222 just a bit outside of the city (if you head down a big hill and come up on some grain silos you have gone too far) it is a bit hidden so keep your eyes out on the left side of the road. After you park your car it is a short walk up to the castle, where it costs 3 Lei to tour the castle. Other than the remains of the buildings there isn't anything else, no museum, no plaques telling you about it etc. this didn't bother me at all but if you are looking for a guided tour this isn't for you. From around the main building you can see the remains of a lower wall and some other buildings, inside the fort there are a couple of great vantage points for photos and just sightseeing.

Don't miss if you are birdwathching in Babadag Forest or Enisala Lake. Also close to very good accomodation in Enisala (fishermen) village.

It became obsolete when the lakes were separated from the coast. Now there are only the walls (part of them reconstructed). The position is good on top a the hill - let's you see all around the lake and the plains.

Nice quiet place with a beautiful view. Worth the drive from Tulcea.

The Enisala Fortress (Romanian: Cetatea Enisala, often referred to as Heracleea Fortress) is a 12th to 14th century medieval fortress sitting on a hill overlooking Lake Razim (Razelm) and the Babadag forest Only some exterior walls remain but is worth go there because the view from the top of the hill is amazingThe fortress is accessible only by car .
