If you are looking for a tour of a distillery, then this isn't the place for you. If you are interested in trying local and legal moonshine, this is a fun and quick outing. We enjoyed the newly shipped moonshine and purchased a bottle of one kind we enjoyed. Our pourer was amusing and knowledgable even about my hometown in Wilkes County, NC that also claims to be the Moonshine Capital of the World.

Not much to see here unless you take the tour of the back room. It was cool to hear how the process works, however it would have been better if they were actually producing shine at the time. The tour guide was very nice and offered free samples. Be advised, they are not allowed to sell their product, so you must go to a liquor store to purchase it. If you are visiting the GA Racing Hall of Fame pop-in as the two are connected, but it is not worth a separate visit.

My husband & I don't drink however the moonshine stories are interesting & was a family tradition many generations ago. We were the only ones there so we got a private tour & were offered free samples that we kindly refused. The store was very country & clean. My favorite was the Raccoon in the store!

I purchased the jug of moonshine at our local Jax Liquor store in Cumming Dec 21,13. At $22 a bottle, I was expecting something that at least tasted like an alcoholic beverage. There is a strong odd flavor that overpowers what I had expected. I've had good moonshine before but this product in no way taste like good corn liquor!

May a quick detour here with my kids to break up a long road trip. It was fun! Super nice people, cool tours, enough to see to make it worthwhile. Plus, the souvenirs were affordable. Can beat that combo!

Well, I read a couple of reviews that were not so nice but my husband and I thought it was a neat idea to place a moonshine distillery where NASCAR became famous due to drivers who ran moonshine. We had a free tour at the distillery so were able to go in the back room to see how it works and we also had a free sample of the moonshine. Though they do not sell moonshine right at the location, it is available at a liquor store right down the street. Personally, I would rather sample wine, but it was a fun experience. We were able to get an autograph of Robert Mitchum's son who was there for the annual Moonshine Festival. We were glad we were there the day before the festival as it was crowded already with a car show and vendor set-up. I would recommend going when it is not the moonshine festival so you can get a tour and the distillery personnel could take more time to show you around.

Each year, the last weekend in October, there is the Moonshine Festival in Dawsonville GA. A 3-day event with lots of vendors and lots & lots of classic cars. There's something for everyone. There are even the old cars adapted for carrying moonshine through the mountains "back in the day". And lots of old race cars along with some of the drivers. Of course there's the moonshine distillery and the racing museum. And the famous "Dawsonville Pool Hall" - you may even get to see Awesome Bill Elliott! There are a lot of nearby attractions such as Amicolola Falls which is beautiful any time of year but especially so in the Fall. When this festival is in town, you can easily spend the whole weekend -- but you may have to go out about 20 miles to find an available motel! Any other time of year there are available bed & breakfasts as well as motels but they are booked solid for the festival.

We stopped in today just days before The Moonshine Festival. We are big fans of the Moonshiners TV show and were excited to see this place. The owner is the first legal moonshiner of the family. It was interesting to hear her talk about her family but there really wasn't anything to see. You look through a glass window at a copper pot. That was all that was going on. You can't buy moonshine there only t-shirts, cookbooks and shot glasses. Even though this was free it was lacking interest for us.

This was the best trip I have been on in a long time! Definitely a unique business. We got to see the folks there actually make real corn whiskey and it was great! We bought a bottle at the local liquor store and they even signed it for us. The whole visit was incredible. Highly recommend a vist to Dawsonville Moonshine Distillery.

A unique place to visit. The staff were very friendly and informative. A little hard to find as it is not listed on our GPS and the address in one of the brochures was incorrect. We were glad we finally stumbled across it. You cannot purchase the moonshine there but have to purchase it at a liquor store. We drove to the liquor store made our purchase and drove back to the distillery to get the bottle signed. There is a race car museum right next door. The day we were there they were filming for a t.v series.

Went to Dawsonville to see the racecar museum and the distillery was included in the price. You get a free sample of moonshine and it was pretty good. Learned how the moonshine is made and that it is sold in liquor stores (didn't know that).

we went to this after the racecar museum. Both (same entrance fee, although I think you can go to the distillery free) were way more entertaining than I expected. We sampled moonshine (aka "corn whiskey") which is quite whiskey-like. The distiller was really enthusiastic about the process & we got to see the vats of fermenting corn slurry.

Small operation. Gives great view of history and the process used then and now. Small tour but they took the time to talk and answer all questions. No moonshine sold on site BUT you can buy bottle down the road and bring it in for them to sign the bottle. Awesome!!!!
