Keep in mind that I played this course in mid-February. Tee boxes and greens are in great shape, it's the in between that I did not enjoy. First off the signage is very poor, even the GPS in the cart did not match the hole number displayed at the tee boxes. Pretty much a guess which direction to travel when you came to a fork in the path, then another challenge to find the tee box colors.Fairways are painted green and are spotty at best ( probably better when the grass grows later in the year). Greens are in great shape and are slick. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I hope, as stated in earlier posts, that the potential reformation turns this course around. Our group paid $25 and glad I didn't pay anywhere near the $60 posted rate, would have felt ripped off.Casino next door is excellent, especially the seafood buffet, which made the 90 minute drive worth it.

course in bad state of disrepair. no communication at hotel about how the package worked and had to go back and forth from course and casino before we could golf.

After a few years of decline; this 7500+ yard long course is poised for a comeback. Contoured greens are definitely the drawing card, though over 20,000 square yards of sod are ready for a spring rooting that will increase the playability. With hills comes erosion potential, but the new Superintendent has cart paths groomed as best as possible - a bit bumpy but the electric Club Cars handle well. Be advised after a rain it may be "cart path only" as with most desert courses.Food available at Pro Shop is limited, and many beverages were "out of stock" which I never could understand; in ANY establishment.Staff attitudes are key in a remote course like this, and we were well greeted though there is Pro Shop confusion over golf packages. Go with the Eagle Stay n' Play; best value and go around at least twice. GPS in carts. Hilly, interesting, challenging ... 5 sets of tees so after spring green-up (March) it should be awesome. Average hotel, fun but smallish casino; well staffed. Steak House on site is new but closed Mon, Tues so we were unable to enjoy.Overall, I'd go back in spring as I think their winter repair efforts are about to pay dividends to the golfing public. Time of review is early Feb 2015. Golf Course is called Apache Stronghold, not Apache Gold ... that's the casino.

We have been here on other trips to Arizona and we love this course. The scenery is beautiful;the course is fun and can be challenging; the green fees ( which include cart and range balls) very reasonable and the staff are great. So, it might be a little less cared for than other courses and the unlimited free range balls were a little worn but the fact that you are golfing in the desert with great views, washes and wildlife make up for it. There are no houses lining the fairways like so many affordable courses in Arizona.

My family and I recently stayed here. There was a cricket infestation and the carpet in the hallways are stained with blood. I kid you not there was actually one of those "wet floor signs" right by one of the many red stains at the bottom of the stairs. When I asked for an extra towel for my son the front desk lady (I think her name was Lori in case anyone from management reads this) at the front was UNBELIEVABLY snappy and rude. Our room was run down and the wallpaper was peeling off the walls. Our family vacation was ruined!

It rained the night before and the washes were muddy. They got them cleared in time to start our round.Rudy is the GREATEST! The course is the main reason we visit this area.

I really liked the greens on this course but the fairways were very dry. I would play this course again maybe in the winter time to give it a chance

They are really working hard to bring this course back to good playing conditions. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Fairways and rough are pretty bare at this point, but this may be the time of year while the grass is still dormant. (You do get a lot of roll!)Tee boxes and green are in great condition. The course has many hazard areas to go over. Take extra balls!

I ´m staying at Arizona for 6 months for working. Hope so! Is quiet boring but you have this place at least. I can´t compare with others , just is the only one in the middle of nothing. It is ok! Too much for the área!

This is a great course for the price. $25 for 18 holes! It is a wide open area, no houses on the course to hit. There are some nice long fairways and some hilly ones too. The views are spectacular. Even if it's a hot day, you get a nice breeze out here. There isn't a "snooty" feel to the club and you really can enjoy the time out on the course without feeling rushed! See "Rudy" for your early tee times, bro.

I played today in a tournament 4/13/13. $30.00 is the normal rate. I live in a town without a course. I would love to live near here. I thought the course was closed. I was pleasantly surprised. The course has had some hard times over the last 4-5 years. You can see where they are making improvements. The fairways, tee boxes, and greens were mowed. There are a few greens that have some bare spots. These didn’t cause any problems. We were allowed to move the ball sideways if we needed to putt through one of these. I moved the ball once about 12 inches. The fairways will need to mature a little. There are many bare spots. However if you move your ball you can hit from grass. I didn’t move my ball at all. I only had 2 bare ground shots. I loved the course. No houses, no cars, no noise…I take that back lots of birds. I saw a few jack rabbits. Fun day. I’ll be back. They have a new superintendent. I wish him the best.
