We are Civil war re-enactors so this was a must see for is. We stayed at the Riverview Mansion so we could be close to all the attractions

I had never heard of it until we drove through and after just a little research we realized that it had just a storied past. We didn't get to see all of it but I can say it's a wonderful spot for a picnic. And a good place for a history lesson if you've a mind to.

This park is really big and very clean. Dogs are welcome on leashes - gret place for a walk. There are many picnic tables to have snacks or meals on.

This was the best encampment ever. I think it is the 31st year for this event and I think the biggest. There were more reenactors than ever and something going on all day, every day. Things run very smoothly with assisted parking in designated areas, shuttles constantly going back and forth and safety issues overseen constantly. They have made improvements to the reenactment area with new gravel walkways and the whole park in excellent condition. As vendors/reenactors, we look forward to this event every year. With over 100,000 people in attendance in 2 days, this is something you should not miss. The food are is a huge attraction, as period food is served. The smoked turkey leg and bread bowl chicken rice soup are our favorites. This is well worth a trip but make your motel reservations early or arrive early for a good camp spot in the park camp ground.

We attended the yearly encampment and it was wonderful this year as it has been in the past! The participants put on a great "show".

I had visited the fort some years ago and was travelling this time with my husband and thought he would enjoy the visit back in time. Was disappointed that it was fenced off with metal fencing instead of log fence and you could no longer go into the buildings due to the 2011 flooding. The visitor center is still a nice find to discover the history of the fort.

We went to go see the fort but unfortunately it was closed. However, you could go walk around and see where the fort was originally sitting. The view of the Ohio River was awesome and the park was clean and relaxing to drive through. We didn't go on hikes but would like to come back to go camping here!

Fort Massac State Park has an interesting museum showing the artifacts that were uncovered when the fort was reconstructed. It also explains the changes in ownership of the land from the French to English and finally how George Rogers Clark defeated the British and claimed the territory for America. There is a reproduction of the actual fort, however it was damaged by the flood in 2010 and has not been repaired, so you can only look at the outside and not inside the walls. Festivals are held several times each year to re enact the battles that were fought. Campground is clean and the sites are level. Each site provides electric service for RV's, some sites with 50amp service, but most 30amp service. Water hook ups are not available, but there are water supply points near most sites so you can fill tanks once parked. The dump station was clean and functional. RV sites have easy access and are quiet.

Large and well maintained. A tour of the museum is a must. Be careful and watch where you are driving as we found ourselves driving on a bike path; just a tad embarrassing but we survived.

I stopped here to use the facilities and found a wonderful museum and learned a few things. The array of arrowheads behind glass was beautiful, inviting fireplace, and very friendly park rangers. The restroom area of the museum is wheelchair accessible but not sure how much you can get around outside near the actual fort buildings.

We took a walk and a drive yesterday. What a beautiful park. Lots of trails , both driving and walking. Water and wood views. Really cool frisbee golf course. The forts themselves were closed, but we will be back in the summer. Looked like they were getting the picnic tables out and cleaned up for the season.

Nice place to see the Ohio River or park to eat lunch. We did not go over to the fort as we were short on time. Park looked clean and well maintained. We did see a few young couples with their children.

The third weekend of October Fort Massac hosts a French/Indian War Reenactment. It is always a treat to go and visit the many vendors who come in from all over with their various handcrafted items, etc. The food is amazing as well as the atmosphere. If you can plan a Friday through Sunday visit is the best and enjoy this 3 day event. FREE family fun, except for certain areas do charge a small fee for parking but this is really an amazing experience.

We visited the Fort with Friends, not knowing that the Fort was closed off to Visitors, but still enjoyed the Park overlooking the Ohio River, and looking through the chainlink fence at the Fort, as it used to be. We spent an hour just enjoying the Visitor Center, watching the film, and exploring the displays.
