This is a highlight of the local area. It's a free place to visit but on government property. (BLM?) The view of the Sierra is incredible. The place is well known and you will always run into other groups there. In fact, it's a bit over crowded. We found that the mud in the hot springs is filled with hair of previous users. Nevertheless, this place is a geologic marvel with tavertine deposits all around the area.

I love hot springs. I go out of my way to visit many of them, and this has been one of my favorites. It is a relatively short drive off of 395 and there are a number of pools that are close to the parking lot. There are also a few a bit further away that I was not able to find. The one closest to the parking lot where the bench is, is the hottest one. The ones a bit further down are fun too and I can sit in those all night long. You are not allowed to camp at the parking lot, but if you do want to camp, you can do so in the pull out right before the "no camping" sign. As long as you are before this sign you are ok (This is what the ranger told me). Do not try to sleep in your car at the parking lot, as the ranger comes around to check for people sleeping.Please be respectful, pack it in, pack it out, leave only footprints and take only pictures. Please do not bring glass here (as a general rule to all hot springs).

Travertine Hot Springs were a highlight of our road trip, the bumpy ride was worth the views we got upon arrival. The pools vary in size and temperature, which is nice. You have a view all the way across the valley over to the Sierra Nevada. We arrived a little before sunset, and left a little after before the mosquitos got too bad. Well worth your time.

It's a relatively short drive up a dirt road. The road is marked by a sign for Jack Sawyer Rd, but do not expect to see any signs on the highway denoting the springs. Definitely natural, although the pools have had some coaxing by human hands. The pool closest to the parking lot is warmest. They are well worth seeing as a geologic site and even better if you go prepared for soaking (i.e. towel, etc.). We visited in late Oct and found a few people in each of the pools. Everyone was quite friendly. I loved just walking around and noticing all the geology. You also have a nice view of Bridgeport.

With the short easy drive, it's unlikely you'll have this place to yourself. There are several pools. The first and possibly most popular is the one in the parking lot. Since I was the first to arrive, I decided to use that one. After adjusting flow, I got the temperature to my liking. It was algae lined, but clean otherwise. During my visit 3 guys joined me and we had a nice conversation especially as we found we had hiked the same area the previous day. Be prepared for nudity. This tub is cleaned regularly. Shortly after leaving the pool, someone showed up to clean it.

I'm not sure whether I'm happy about not seeing any nudists or disappointed! A steady trickle of people at 10am, not too busy, but not quiet either. Nice to experience them, worth it if you're in the area, probably not worth the detour if you're not going through Bridgeport anyway.Dirt road but fairly easy to locate.

My wife would kill me giving away this wonderful hot springs, right off of 395 near Bridgeport. But this is a great place with many hot and warm pools with water bubbling right out of the ground. you have great views of the valley and the Eastern Sierra. Some pools are hotter then others, for the ones that are 104 degrees or so, you'll just have to look around.

This is a classic hot spring with gorgeous views of the Bridgeport valley and the eastern Sierra. There are multiple pools just the right temperature to ease your body after a day exploring the beauty of the area. There is a toilet at the parking area.

Had never been to a hot springs before, this was great, we ran into a rancher that lived near by and he was a wealth of information on the area. But also, beware if you have kids, sometimes nude bathers in the area.

The Travertine Springs are the primary reason I came to Bridgeport. The ability to soak au-natural with a fantastic panoramic view of the snow capped Sierra to the west and the camaraderie of like minded soakers were the highlight of my recent trip. A warning - at that altitude the sun burns much more easily that one might expect given the cool to mild outside temperature.

Would not make this a destination stop as it is very small - but we were in the area visiting Bodie and thought we would try it. Unpaved road (2 miles) leads you to the park. You have to take 5 minute walk from parking lot to hot spring (there is also a tub near parking lot, but we were sure about that). 4 small rock tubs face the Sierra Nevada mountains - there was a nudist couple when we arrived, but they left pretty quickly. Another group of 4 people arrived when we did. Between the 9 of us, most of the space in the hot springs was taken up - we didn't stay long. Enough to soak in the sulphur laced mud and enjoy the natural springs - cool experience.

This is one of those experience's where there just aren't adequate words. We drove here after a long, breathtaking hike in Yosemite. It was easy to imagine why the Native Americans used the pools for healing. Healing of both mind and body. Thanks to Trip Advisor, we discovered there are more pools than the first you come to. The BEST one is at the bottom, and has a small fall into the pool. If your looking for a truly natural hot spring, this is the place. The pools require a light hike, but the trail is rocky and not handicap accessible. I wouldn't bring my kids here, as it is in a completely natural environment, complete with snakes, slippery algae and so many hazards. But if your looking forward to a natural hot springs with real rocks, and minerals minus the cement pool this is the place. AND IT'S FREE!ENJOY!

This was our first time at a natural hot spring. We found out about it randomly while we were visiting Bodie. We showed up around 5pm on a Saturday and it was packed. Definitely not the serene vibe I had been imagining. There was a family with 5 kids who were running around screaming, throwing mud, jumping around. The mother was smoking. We were really not into it. We came back the following morning at 6am and it was AMAZING. There was only one person there besides us. It was quiet, the sun was out, the air was cool, the water was hot. We met a nice local who told us about a pool a bit further out. Amazing.

395 Hot Springs adventureMy husband and I have traveled 395 many times over the years, but this was the first time we made a stop at Travertine Hot springs and we were with friends. It was well worth the stop. When you discover the first “pool”, you think that you've seen it all, but no...you need to continue on the trails to the other pools of warm, bubbling waters. There is a restroom for your convenience. We did see a nude couple (He was really old and she was fairly young) so be aware of taking kids because you never know what you may discover. Forgetting the nudity, the pools of water are really interesting and it would be great for kids to see the Springs. When we did try to find the road, the nearby State Park facility was closed and we initially took a wrong turn, but quickly found the right way by asking a resident.
