Some very knowledgeable docents made for an interesting visit. The museum has some well-done exhibits which should appeal to those interested in local history and some general history.

A small museum but plenty of information of the history of the area. A great number of local artifacts. The museum volunteers were helpful and informative. If you are in the area take the time to stop in.

A small place with relevant local information, pictures, and exhibits. The best part was chatting with the volunteer and learning about the Susanville community.

nice city museum, the volunteers put a lot of work into the displays...kept down the mentions of the Sagebrush war, which folks need to know about, like it or not! It's reality. Would have stayed longer but one of the locals was talking loudly and his dog sat right at the front entry and barked at people. Wouldn 't hear ourselves think! Nor could we get to the dontation jar easily...just left the cash on the display case...mentioned our discomfort to the owner of the dog on the way out. Please readers, stop in and hope you can really enjoy the displays.

This museum shows what dedicated staff are able to do. It is most interesting and has many suitably displayed artifacts relating to the old trails that once led people to the west coast of the USA. It is often quite difficult to find detailed history on how the west was actually 'created' by the pioneers that ventured over very tough terrain.Although much of the stuff is 19th cent that is actually old in the USA.The staff are volunteers but will spend as long as it takes giving you information on whatever particularly takes your notice. Then even gave us coffee!

Lassen Historical Museum is located in the small town of Susanville, in the isolated northeastern part of California. Lassen Historical Museum tells the history of Lassen County and the Northern Sierra. It's in a small room filled with many objects and descriptions, very visually appealing (not just object, caption). They switch out exhibits every May, and there is a big map displaying the route caravans took through Susanville looking for gold. You should plan to stay there 20-45 minutes. Right next to the Museum is Roop's Fort, which was built in 1854 and is the oldest structure in Susanville.
