This is a wonderful place to spend an hour finding out how honey is made and all the products you can make from it. We enjoyed the tour and the candle making. If you're in the area go and experience this unique family farm operation!

I took my kids on a 1 hour drive to visit this attraction. We took a tour of the barn, where you go up to the bees in bee keeper like suits, and then they filled their own honey bottle (guessing about 6oz.). I bought a bottle of honey ($10) and the total was over $80. Then I had an expired Groupon which says that the promotional value never expires which was very reluctantly taken (the person taking the Groupon pointed to bottom of page that says if merchant refuses to honor, Groupon would refund the money). The time at the bee hive was the most fun, but we were only there, I want to be accurate, but it felt like about 7 minutes. Then we toured their barn which is pretty much a storage facility where they show you some machines and barrels. After that we went to see where they melt beeswax into candles, we skipped the extra money on this... Then the honey bottle filling. We were each given honey bear shaped bottles to fill with honey at a machine that you use a foot pump at a fountain like machine (like a Coke fountain) to fill up a bottle (took 15 seconds to fill probably) that you labeled yourself with label paper printed and cut into pieces. Then that was it and off to the gift shop. Now, if this trip would have been much less priced, I probably would have given them a break. Their store is nice and you can try lots of different types of honey. I could have sucked up the price if there had been more to it. There are several things we could have done for $70 that would have taken up an afternoon. When I add on my gas it would have been more like $100. So if you're traveling a little ways, I would just rethink it altogether until you see their prices drop, their tours lengthen or become more interesting or entertaining. Now my kids thought the whole thing was very cool, so I didn't make any of this known to them, they enjoyed themselves.

Whether you are looking for a Christmas tree or a bottle of honey this place is worth the drive. Kids love the bee nest in glass enclosure inside the store. Very friendly staff and knowledgable about bees.

I love Hunter's Honey Farm. In addition to having the most delicious honey I've ever tried (get the Wildflower variety, either regular or raw), the chocolate honey pecan clusters are out of this world. You can buy them by the register or even send them online to someone as a gift (I've done both)! The whole shop is cute and filled with honey flavored or infused products. We stopped by last fall for the Honey festival, took rides in a helicopter, and got to play with ferrets. This festival was more full than our local Fall Foliage Festival, and one we plan to make a permanent fall stop. The owners are great people and this honey farm would make a fun weekend destination or a delicious stop for the honey lover in your life.Truly one of Martinsville's best attractions!

I don't know what I expected from a visit to a honey farm, but this blew me away. Our group consisted of my in-laws, my wife, 5 year-old son, and me. During our 90-minute visit we were all captivated for the duration. Our guide was able to talk about the work the bees do in collecting pollen in a way that my son understood it and the roles of the different bees in the hive as well as talking about the haploid/diploid nature of drones vs. workers and the mating process of the queen to keep my interest. It was clear she wasn't working from a script and kept the talk at the right level and length for the group.Inside we got to see all the processing of the honey as well as how the wax gets used for different products. An examination of pollen and discussion of royal jelly rounded things out. This was again kept age appropriate and proper length.Like all good tours, it ended in the gift shop where there were plenty of fairly priced and interesting honey products.I'm not sure I'd go back next year, but we'll probably hit it again when my son's a bit older so he can soak in more of the science that's thrown in.

Hunters Honey Farm has a wide variety of honey products. They are great for Christmas gifts. HHF also has U-cut Christmas trees.

We take the grand peeps at least once a year. Lot's to do and see.The fall festival they have is the best for activities.A little goofy to get to but worth the effort. Get a good map.
