Grew up swimming in the lake and playing on the beach. Now that I'm older, I love to hike the several trails they have. Some of the extended trails are overgrown in May, but I got a machete for Christmas. Problem solved. We RARELY encounter anyone else on the trails. Peaceful. Serene. Still haven't seen Bigfoot.

Our group met for a picnic and we were able to use a pavilion. There was a grill for using charcoal near the pavilion. There were clean bathrooms nearby. We were there during a weekday evening, and the picnic area was not busy. I have also attended the park in the past and our family has enjoyed hiking and swimming in the lake, even though the water is cold.

This park has ample parking and facilities to be there 1 day or 1 month, camping. The furnaces were really cool to look at and a key part of not only the areas history, but the countries.

I went here to check out the best mountain biking in PA. I had a good time but it wasn't all that. I did 25 miles in the Coopers Gap area -most of the IMBA Epic ride. I never felt challenged too much. Lots of rock gardens for sure. I have been mountain biking the New England area for 20 years and been mountain biking in many other places. Given a choice - I would go to Vermont. That said - this is only one place in PA that I tried and I intend to do more homework and return again.

My family found a remarkable place for family get togetherness away from gadgets with "twitfacing" in this lovely state park. There are wonderful hiking trails, historical iron works and great swimming at the "beach" as my kids called the dam/little lake and little or no Network with the major carriers. There are great bathroom facilities with hot showers, pavilions for picnics with grills to go if you bring your charcoal and food. For the less adventurous there is a restaurant serving burgers and fries and soft drinks and a bevy of Mountain Cabins though locating owners for rental purposes is another adventure all together as some are quit rustic and owners are not easily listed except word of mouth but there motels towards State College. Biking can be quite stretching with the rolling Mountains but the sights make it worthwhile. Seating around fires roasting sweet corn, sausages and Marshmallows just made the kids long weekend!

This is a lovely PA State Park. There is a small lake with swimming, scenic mountains with hiking, and a few historic attractions. The park concession stand even had wonderful REAL food!

Greenwood furnace is a beautiful and historic state park. I have usually been a day use person, but there is camping. Greenwood was once the site of two charcoal irurces includeon furnaces circa 1900. There is a small visitor center which interprets the iron story. There is great fishing, hiking, and picnicing. Historic resources include an iron masters house and two stone furnace stacks. This gem is 20 miles from Huntingdon or state college, pa.

My husband took our adult children and their spouses to Greenwood Furnace for part of the day. We enjoyed reading the plaques about the furnace and walking around and inside of it. Then enjoyed walking around the lake and had a picnic near the sandy shore. The beach is small, but it wasn't crowded. There were a few hiking trails that were not difficult. If you're looking for great entertainment, this isn't the place to go. But if you're looking for an easy place to enjoy nature and the quiet, this is a great choice.

I have been going here since I was a child. The history is so interesting, plus there is great scenery, hiking, lake, camping, bird watching. I visit often in summer and fall.

It is in close proximity to State College and that makes it a gem. It is one of the things that makes it such a great place to visit.

Nice little park with something for everyone! Camping, picnic areas, pavilions that can be reserved, a trout stocked lake with a beach, hiking trails and close to huning areas. We have had church outings and family reunions here.

We frequent this park and love it. It has a swimming area, fishing, nice easy trails and historical sites, too! The playground equipment could use to be replaced but at least there is playground equipment!A great spacious park for a day or over night trip! Day use is free of course!

We've been here many times--sometimes with a larger group (renting a pavilion, which makes for a really nice base)--or sometimes just our family. The lake makes it all worthwhile. It's so utterly refreshing in the summer. There is plenty of shallower water for the little kids, and you can get nets to catch minnows with. Swimming surrounded by mountains makes me very happy. Sand for the little kids to build sand castles with.

We stayed in our pop-up camper in one of the pet-friendly campsites. Campsite was well-maintained, with electric hookup. Online reservations were easy, and costs reasonable. Standard campground facilities. Good hiking. Ranger station/gift shop is friendly & helpful. If you're planning on camping, be sure to bring a cooler & food, because the only stores are a bit of a ride away, when they're open.
