I have two dogs; this park has a dog beach which allows me to walk them off-leash. They are in dog heaven; they both think they are so important--lol. As long as everyone picks up after their dogs (most do), the beach is clean and litter free; there are both steps and ramp from the parking area to the beach. The beach provides (on the left side of the snow fence) a firepit and a picnic area. on the right side of the snow fence, dogs are welcomed. be sure to bring your own litter bags to clean up after your dog. you have to have one on you at all times, so bring an extra. generally, there are some available at the parking area; however, I wouldn't count on those. The picnic facilities on the other side of the park (to the right when you enter the first drive), there is an outstanding picnic area, a nice playground, and bathrooms, etc. Overall, this is an excellent park to visit.

Our cockapoo loved playing with his new doggy friends on the beach. My kids loved climbing the sand dunes. It was a hit with everyone.

Spectacular day on a beautiful beach exclusively for our Chocolate Labrador ! We are very appreciative of the Muskegon County Parks for this beach access!

This park is a hidden gem near Lake Michigan. There is a nice playground for the kids and nice bathroom and picnic facilities. You can climb up to the top of the dune on nice walkways and have a wonderful view of the lake. Well worth a visit.

Like farther down in the shore, this beach was very clean - even though it is a dog-friendly beach. My puppy had the time of his life. It was great being able to take him to a place where we all had fun. Will definitely be heading back there!

Instead of entering the park at official entrance, select the last parking spot on beach street. The walk is flat and only 50 yards to the dog section from Pere Marquette beach.Beach is fantastic. Large area for dogs and owners. Shallow when first in the water. Dogs run unleashed. Everyone is friendly and considerate with their dogs and yours.Only issue is biting flies. If there is no breeze, I would stay away.

My friend and I bring our dogs here every few weeks and really love the area. When you first come into the park you'll walk down a winding trail or steps to the beach area with signs pointing to where you can have your dogs. It is a bit different from other dog beaches in that there are no fences. We usually let our dogs spend as much time in the water as they would like and then walk the trails while they dry off. The trails are mostly well shaded but a lot of stairs in most areas! The dog park does struggle with keeping clean, we haven't had any problems but other people mention complaints on a frequent basis so if you are bringing your dog make sure to bring bags to clean up after them and more for others if you can spare them!

This is my absolute favorite place to go swimming, walking, hiking, picnicking and you name it. Off the beaten path yet not, lol. I could go here every day. I love the steps and the view :)

I have two four year old Border Collies who love the beach and water. They chase the waves and run up and down the beach. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for providing such a wonderful space. Dog owners are frequently unwelcome. It is really great to have this first class beach as a place where we can take our dogs and have them enjoy this great experience. For first time visitors, take Rt 31 to exit 112 and go west on Sheridan to the end. Bare left to get into the park. You will be delighted. We are staying at the Duck Creek RV resort just off of exit 121 on Rt 31. You can be sure that we will be back after this discovery. Thank you again.

I love this place. Our Jack Russel especially loves this place. Not many beautiful sandy beaches where one can roam free with your 4 legged friend. We live on the east side of the state and we take the 2 1/2 hour drive just so we can take the dog to the beach. Be prepared to walk down and up a lot of steps leading down to the beach, this may be hard for some people, but if you take your time you should be fine :-) I have not experienced the flys that some people have mentioned; however, I have only gone there in July and August. Oh, just make sure you clean up after your 4 legged pal... we need to keep this place clean!

With the hundreds of miles of Great Lakes shoreline you'd think it would be easier to find a beach that allows dogs along Lake Michigan (and you'd be wrong!).Kruse Park is free and run by the city of Muskegon. It is a beautiful beach with a few flights of stairs down to the beach level. Dogs are allowed to the righthand side of the beach and the area stretches about 1/2-3/4 mile so there's plenty of room to walk and play with your dog.It is a lot of fun to hang out at the beach with dogs and their owners. A lot of exhausted, sandy, wet dogs go home from this beach each day. You would think that the dog owners would recognize what a great thing it is to have this beach space and follow the two simple rules--clean up after your dog (with bags provided) and keep your dog on a leash. Unfortunately that is not the case. The beach was littered with dog droppings both times we went last week and there were packs of dogs running free. As a tourist, I would like to pay a fee to use this park and have the money used to clean the area (including the giant stinking pile of plastic bags with dog droppings in them on the beach and the droppings left on the sand). We have a great time at this beach, but it could be so much nicer if dog owners would be respectful of the beach and other beach goers. Come on dog owners--is it really that hard to follow two simple rules and carry your plastic bags to the top of the stairs to dispose of?

Awesome. Good dogs, polite owners, easy access, calm waters. Too bad not everyone picks up after their dogs.

This is a great beach to take your dog. It's a disignated dog beach and there are dozens of dogs enjoying time on the beach with owners who clean up after them.

Off leash dog park on north end of beach. Quite a hike from the parking lot and the sand was hot. Recommend morning or evening adventure. Was great to play in the water with my golden retriever.

Very scenic and easy to find. Water and lakeshore were amazing!
