We are blessed to live along the Ellis County Blue Bonnet trail. We never get tired of the beauty and the smell!!! Roll your windows down or better yet, ride your motorcycle or bicycle and enjoy! We do!

The bluebonnet trails are a favorite around here and my personal favorite. Thousands of people visit the various trails. The bluebonnets are always breathtaking and a great after ride. Take the kids and stop along the way and take pictures in the bluebonnets. You will keep those memories forever! Along some of the trails you may find a local winery or special stands or tables that may sell items. A friend of mine plans to sell stained glass sun catchers in her front yard this year. I think they could be a wonderful item to remember the trip with. Anyway, I love everything about the bluebonnet trails. Oh, and downtown Ennis will also have vendors selling their wares under tents set up on main street. Enjoy!

Next April be sure to stop by Ennis Texas to see the fabulous bluebonnets. The Bluebonnet Festival is from April 1-April 30 and that is definitely the peak time for these beautiful flowers which are the state flowers of Texas. Bring you cameras and don't miss this sight. It is like a piece of Heaven has landed all over the fields in Ennis, Texas. Daurice Cody Shine

I drive these trails almost every year. They are beautiful and only about an hour from Dallas. The visitor's bureau does a great job of keeping you up to date on the best trails. I find it very serene, driving by pastures filled with cows, horses and wildflowers. I never get tired of it. The landscape is breathtaking!

We followed the map given to us at the Ennis Visitor's Center. It was easy to do & they keep track of where the best blooms are at the time you are there. Such beautiful flowers! There's a bathroom at the Visitor's center so we made a stop before we headed out.

I loved downloading the trail map from the visitor's center website and following the 40+ miles of trails. I get lost easily, but had no problem following the map (by myself). It was amazing and I got some incredible pictures. I went during the week and suggest not going on a weekend, if possible. Definitely worth the time if you like beautiful rural landscapes.

Weekday travel made this a peaceful smooth trip. There were very few cars and people to deal with. Planned our trip for the week after their festival and that made for a most enjoyable time. Kids in school and families not out doing pictures. Highly recommend planning your bluebonnet trail trip the week after thier festival during work hours. Enjoy!

Mach Rd had the best view of bluebonnets that we saw. Amazing! The trails were awesome. Probably need to fix the signs though. We followed the maps but if we hadnt then we would have gotten lost

Wonderful!!! Loved the Bluebonnet Trail in Ennis, Texas. The Visitor Center folks were great. We will be back next year.

One of the best places to enjoy the bluebonnet season in Texas. We loved the stunning views of local roads going through ranches filled by bluebonnets. You can easily spend a full day on this trail specially if you plan to stop by local wineries.Make sure your first stop is at the visitor center. You can get a free trail map and advice on driving directions. In the peak season (late April), they get many visitors at weekends so some of the guides may get tired and do not explain everything to everyone. If they don't mention it, ask them to mark fields/ranches open to public on your map (most ranches are private). Our day trip to Ennis was from Asutin (~3hr one way). I would suggest visitors from Austin to plan for a two day trip to have enough time to explore the city and the bluebonnet trail.

The directions along the road are a little hard to follow but it is excellent way to spend a Saturday afternoon

Perhaps it's my ancestral roots calling, but Ellis County and the surrounding area speaks eloquently of early Texas. Yes, the bluebonnets are spectacular and rarely disappoint. Come for the wildflowers but leave yourself open to sense Texas wild.

What a great way to spend Easter weekend with the family!! What a treat to behold!! We appreciated the updated weekly maps showing the best spots for bluebonnets. Head out in the morning to avoid crowds and understand that you will be elbow to elbow with everyone else at the best spots for photos.

We travel the Ennis Bluebonnet Trails every year and love the beauty of the countryside with its beautiful colors and sweet fragrance. The best way to see everything is to stop by Bluebonnet Headquarters located at the old depot where experts will give you maps of the trails and other good advice. There are signs on the roads with arrows pointing so you know what directions you need to go. Be patient if you're taking pictures because there tends to be a lot of people who think the scenery is just for them and allow their kids to run into your photo ops without warning.

Beautiful drive through rural roads with fields of bluebonnets! Lots of photo stops ... of course the bluebonnets vary from year to year but the concentration is among the best to be seen. Rolling pastures with longhorn cattle, horses and donkeys make for great photographs and the fragrance is wonderful! This week should be the peak blooms.
