unique and beautiful evening with family, learned a lot about the past and then shopped in their unique gift shop, missed an neat event the week before and have added it to a future trip.

We stopped here as part of our trip to northwest PA. Very nice place for a family hike, although there are some areas that require some effort, with very interesting formations. and history. it is not for the mobility impaired, but my wife says the video did an excellent job of showing what she could otherwise not see. We would give this a 5 star rating except for the fact that the trail markers could be much better as we often had to really think about which way to head at times. so, if markers are updated, give it a 5

This place is spectacular. The views are breathtaking and walking around and on top the rocks is a lot of fun and educational for the kids. A great place to visit. Beautiful.

If you're spending some time at Allegany State Park, take an afternoon to visit Rock City Park. You will not be disappointed. It is very interesting, if not a little quirky, with pretty great views and rock formations. It's a cheap way to spend an afternoon just a half hour away from the park. Be sure to wear decent footwear, as the terrain is a little uneven. We return every year, because it's just so neat.

Rock CIty Park is a geological marvel. It takes about an hour to wander above, under and through the many massive blocks that were deposited by the receding glaciers at the upper end of a valley. Their shapes are awe-inspiring. You have to watch your step in several places, as their are numerous crevasses, and rocks can be "slippery when wet". Our two visits were dramatically enhanced because we were there on Columbus Day /Canadian Thanksgiving weekends, when the fall colours were exploding. All that for just $5 a person.

Totally unexpected side trip, and doesn't take long to see such beautiful rock formations - we all loved it, especially the Sasquatch at the end. :-)

First read about this on TA, and then in various tourist magazines and brochures upon arrival so we new what to expect.Location was easy to find using the GPS, and was well marked from a distance. The entrance is fairly narrow with really only enough room for one car so you have to move to the side when there is oncoming traffic. There are a number of small signs to read on the drive down the long laneway. It's kind of like going to an amusement park in that you don't really know what you getting into until you get past the front office. There are both a men's and ladies washrooms inside the main building and they are very well kept and decorated with lots of little nick knacks making it feel very at home like. Good idea to go before you start the trip, as you probably don't want to go while on the trail as there are individuals are always walking by.There is only one person at the main desk, but that is really all that was required. You pay the entry fee, which includes the taxes and is very well priced. The gentleman gives you a brochure, which includes a map and some of the things you will see along the way. They trail is extremely well marked, although there are lots of little places to jut off and explore a little bit, getting back is always easy. From the minute we entered I knew this was going to be a different experience. There was a little concern that it was going to be somewhat cheesy like those mystery hill type things, but this was far from that type of activity. Everything is well kept, and we went out of our way to get a shirt with the address and the name of the attraction because we enjoyed it so much. This is one of the few attractions I have come across that given the cost, and the experience I would actually even consider doing again. The immense size and formation of the rocks and the environment surrounding is just so amazing. We often find ourselves stopping and admiring the different configurations in absolute awe of what was around us. We spent about an hour, but could have spent more if we had done more exploring and if you have kids they will want to play and climb on the rocks although it is not recommended. A lot of the key rock's are labelled, but there were a couple along the route that I came up with my own such as the "Sunken Ship" on one near the end of the trail before the Indian Stairs. Keep in mind that it is not disability friendly as the majority of the park is "downstairs" and it is not wheel chair accessible. There is however a video that can be watched while the rest of your party partakes in the trail which is only moderately challenging. If you get a chance to visit this area of New York, I would highly recommend this excursion if you enjoy nature at all, and even if you don't it will surely amaze you. There is a small gift shop with walking sticks, rocks, gems, etc. that you can purchase from in addition to what appears to be some local art work. This was by far our favorite excursion of our trip and would encourage those in the area to check it out. The cost is well worth it, and you will enjoy every minute of it if you enjoy unusual things and the outdoors. Plan to spend anywhere between 1 and 3 hours if you decide to do lunch.

Great place for a few hours of fun with the kids. I grew up visiting this place every summer with my family and continue to visit with my children. Great place to take family photos.

Like Letchworth and Allegehny State Park, you just have to put this on your bucket list. The mountain Laurel collection was not there when I was a kid but it is breathtaking now. The first gemstones I ever had came from the rock shop there. Changed my life and made me quite a tidy little fortune in my young adult life. Bring your video and hiking boots. LOVE it!!!-B :)

We were in Olean (from New Jersey) for a basketball tournament last week and had a few hours between games. I found this place on trip advisor and we decided to go. We had four 13 year old boys with us. It was a great spot to spend an extra hour or two. The rock formations were awesome. The walk through the park is well maintained and there is something impressive to see around every turn. Lots of good photo ops. For 5$ this is a no brainer. The boys loved it and the parents did as well. Thanks trip advisor!

What's not to like, it's a miniature city made from Rocks left by receding glaciers. Great picinic spot. Spend an afternoon.

I have enjoyed Rock City Park several times, from childhood through adult. Great adventure for young children. Beautiful rock formations. Hiking trail is just right for all ages. We brought our own picnic lunch and ate in their picnic area and it is very inexpensive at $5 per person, $3 for kids ages 6 - 12 and it is free for children 0 - 5. There is a fluorescent rock room, which the kids enjoyed and a museum. Awesome photo opportunities as well.

July 6, 2014, my husband and I went back to Rock City. I went w my parents several times when I was little and we took our kids when they were little. This is the first time we have been back in probably 20 years and it is still amazing!! The main path and the off paths lead you on the most beautiful, interesting, FUN adventure you will ever have! They say to plan on at least an hour on the trails? We were on them just over 2! Make sure you have comfortable shoes on. We will be back w at least 4 of our 5 grandkids SOON.

It's a unique spot with cool easy to walk trails anyone independently ambulatory can enjoy. I'd be careful with very young children though plenty were in attendance. Bring your bug spray because the place is loaded with mosquitoes. It's only $5 a person and the gift shop has fun, inexpensive trinkets. My son loved all aspects--he's 14. We had a nice time.

interesting rock formations and the kids loved exploring the different rocks. Worth a visit. We got some nice pictures of the rocks.
