We went on an organized Geology hike here and found it fascinating-excellent speaker who explained the unique geology of the mountain.. I really liked the hiking trails and the history associated with the site. A great example of reclaiming land for recreational use.I want to come back when there aren't so many people (huge crowd for the geology hike) but even with the crowd it was a great experience. They have a zip line and a dog park but my main interest is the hiking trails. A little bit of climbing but nothing too strenuous, easy to moderate difficulty trails. Highly recommend.

We had trouble scheduling our zip because of the weather and limited working hours. We finally scheduled it and headed to the zip line. The people are fabulous and try to make the trip fun. Unfortunately, there is not much to this zip line. It is longer than the ones on the zip line tour, but there is no scenery to look at, and the launch is a little difficult because you basically have to sit down and scoot off the edge. My younger kids did enjoy it. It would probably be great for first timers, though I would recommend spending the extra money and completing the multiple zip line trip, which I have reviewed before.

I was on a business trip and was in Birmingham over the weekend, so I decided to do something fun since I would be stuck here either way. Let me tell you that this was the greatest decision ever!!! I booked my zip lining early in the morning and when I arrived it was just me and the two instructors, they were great and knew how to make people have fun! I highly recommend to people who want to do something quick and fun! The park itself was beautiful and the weather while I was there was also perfect!

A little bit of everything on the trails. Not too technical, a few good hills. Can't wait for some of the foliage to mature. I will be back.

Red Mountain Park has fantastic trails, it's full of Birmingham's history and has lots of other stuff for hikers to do. I love the overlooks and the tree houses. I went to the grand opening of the dog park and it's very nice, unfortunately I haven't had a chance to go back since but it's the best dog park I've seen in Birmingham. I can't wait to go back and explore more!

This was our first time zip lining and albite a little pricey was a great time. The park itself was beautiful with nice trails and neat mines and history. The zip line guides were super friendly and helpful with information on places to eat and visit during our stay. One could spend a whole day in the park and not spend a dime. We highly recommend it.

John and I just discovered this place and I love it already! We have only been there twice but so far it will be one of our places we go to walk/hike. We have not participated in the zip line or anything else they offer besides walking. We have went to a few of the lookouts and it is really cool. Also, something I love and we just discovered is that the whole little area used to be a mining community. Mining used to be a huge part in Alabama and I like how they are preserving this around the hiking area so you can look at it. They have a dog park which is cute, sadly we do not have a dog to take there, but it is nice to walk down and look at the other dogs. I cannot wait to go back and enjoy the rest of the park! I suggest this park to anyone!

I hike here occasionally and must say that overall it's a nice park, very peaceful and scenic with an abundance of trails.

Located on Birmingham's south side, this is a wonderful mountain that provides miles of trails and excellent overlooks. It's a pleasant reminder of just how green and hilly Birmingham is, and just how important maintaining this greenery is to the natives.

Very nice walk, pure air, sounds of nature, many trails with a choice of hard or easy walk, and they have a private tree walk with zip line, but them you have to pay, but still you can go walking or is very nice for bikes as well

Red Mountain Zip Line Park is closer than you think and completely different than any other zip lines my family have done. Directions to the park are awful as they don't have a parking area associated with the trail system, challenge course or zip lines, you just park on the street with all of the other cars in the corner. There is a short hike up to the make shift cargo container turned office. By now they could have sold drinks, hot days, bring your own. After a short rigging fitting and acquaintance briefing you're off on a short hike and climb to you first station. This course does include a backward zip line (weird feeling) and pendulum swing.

Red Mountain Park is just minutes from downtown Birmingham, AL. If it weren't for the occasional freight train passing close by you would think you were far, far away from civilization. Hiking trails are well-marked and well-maintained. Park has zip line course and treetop obstacle course for the extreme tourist (fee charged for these attractions). The remains of many former iron and coal mines can be seen, a glimpse into Birmingham's past as the steel capital of the south. Nice to see an abandoned former industrial area turned into a beautiful community asset. Just five minutes west of I-65 at Lakeshore Drive exit. Primitive restroom facilities. No concessions inside park. Park is still in development, but what is there is a great start. Nice close to home getaway!

My husband, dog, and I have hiked these relatively new trails at Red Mountain Park twice. We were not that impressed. The land itself is noticeably scarred from its history of having been mined for iron-ore. Trail overlooks reveal some old, rather depressing industrial sections of Birmingham. The forests here are still the very early stages of recovery, after decades of disuse and abuse. The zip lines look like fun, but prices for a ticket are not cheap. If you are interested in seeing and learning about this aspect of the city's history, you will enjoy this park. The trails are well marked, and information placards appear at regular intervals. But if you are looking for a beautiful place where you can observe and enjoy the natural flora and fauna of this region, I recommend that you head for Oak Mountain State Park instead.

Very well maintained trails and facilities. Still a new venue but it is improving all the time. Trail signage and difficulty levels could be better.

My husband and I hiked for a few hours in the the park this afternoon. So much fun! The trails we hiked were mostly through the woods and shady. We enjoyed watching people do the zip line. They all looked like they were having a blast. Be sure to pick up a map at the trailhead. All of the trails are very well marked and well maintained. My only regret is that we did not go to Grace's Overlook. Next time!!!
