This beach is very small and very popular with the locals because the water is like a swimming pool. There are tons of screaming kids which is fine if that's what you are looking for but this beach is definitely not a place to go and relax. We went during the week so I can't imagine it on the weekends. We ate at food stall number 11 which was very good. This beach is too small to really enjoy it without billions of people. Tiny tiny.

This beach isn't terribly large but it is just GORGEOUS! Definitely recommend sinking your toes into this beach!

This relatively small beach is very popular with the locals on the weekends. During the week, it is a quiet place to swim and snorkel, only 15 or 20 minutes away from the Grand Bahia San Juan resort. Food is available at a number of small stalls at the back of the beach. Washroom facilities are primitive and you will need your own mask and snorkel.

calm and clean water, beatiful beach to relax or snokel.Only issue is no shower facility. There is a lady who sells buckets of cold water and let you hide in a portable toilet kind of thing to rinse yourself.

Very nice beach. Very quiet for kids. And if you just want to relax is the perfect beach. The beach is small but very beautiful. Even if you don't want to spent the whole day you should go just to see it.

Don't go on a Sunday as it is crowded and you will get pestered all the time. Plan a week day trip as it is a wonderful beach and protected from big waves so is great for the whole family. Behind the beach is a lot of restaurants that are very good and you can get them to serve your meal on the beach which is better then in the restaurant area. I good place to spend the day.

My wife and I arrived at the beach via a local tour guide who secured a small boat from one of the locals. Once on the beach we were greeted with a "CoCo LoCo" (a coconut hollowed out and filled with coconut rum) and a Pina colada (in a hollowed out pineapple) which were both very good! Following drinks we were brought snorkeling gear and headed out into the crystal clear waters. We saw many colorful fish and had a wonderful time. We spent a few hours there relaxing on the beach before heading back to our hotel via local taxi.

Well to start with we own a condo in Sousa for 9 yrs now. We rented a truck and drove hwy 5 all along the beach road to Rio San Juan and Playa Caleton in just on the edge of the little town. Its a long road in and if you go on the weekdays you will find it very quite and the water clam and clear as a bell. You can go far out and still touch the bottom. WOW its my favorite spot now in the north coast. No one bugs you like Sosua beach to buy stuff. Just a few kids selling sweets and they are great. The homemade coconut with ginger and peanut butter candies are made with brown sugar. We bought tons of stuff for very cheap. Also got a massage from this really sweet lady. She gave the best message ever. She did myself and my husband for only 1,000 pesto. They have great food and we had fish and lobster and chicken and very cheap as well. The place is a MUST SEE. Safe and nice people. If you go , you will never forget this beach. Some people just stay on the resort and never see the country. Trust me its very safe and so beautiful ( the drive there with the mountains and flowers, unreal) We planed on staying only for the day and got a great place to stay and stayed 3 days. Then went back to Sosua. Oh and if you go ask for Tony the waiter. He speaks great English and he will set up a table for lunch right in the sand by your chairs. They rent chair and treat you like gold. Cant wait to go back.

It is a beautiful beach and you can do some hiking and climbing up on rocks, great for photographers, with all of the indigenous heads, as was explained to me, and the scenery. I loved it! Definitely worth visiting and seeing!!

this beach was nice and calm for snorkeling. There were bathrooms, but they were kind of like port-a-potties. The food there was delicious!

Crystal clear warm water, shallow and very swimmable the beach is sandy..you must know where to turn off to go to the beach as there are no markers, and no bathroom facilities

Playa Caleton is literally my favorite place in the world right now. Crystal clear water, if you bring fins you can snorkel out practically forever. There are tons of little brightly colored fish and sea urchins. One of my friends saw an octopus. I've been several times and 99% of the time the water is as flat and calm as a bathtub. It is a locals hangout, so on the weekend expect to see more people, but through the week it is practically empty. They have a 'restaurant' there that will bring out a table right to the beach and has the best chicken I've ever tasted in my life. You can also rent beach chairs or get a massage right on the beach (on certain days). I completely disagree with the guy that said 'they charge what they want'. I've never paid more than $10 US for a very large 'buffet' style meal. You can ask to see the menu ahead of time, they have prices on them. Or better yet, if you don't speak Spanish, hire a local guide for the day and he will do your negotiating for you and tell you all about the history of the area. Our guide was so awesome, I felt like he was the best part of the trip.

This little out of the way beach is just gorgeous! It is about an hours drive from Cabarete. This is a place mostly the locals know about. The water is crystal clear with no waves. It is like a swimming pool. You can see your feet at the bottom! They have a wonderful restaurant there where you can get chicken and seafood with rice and beans and plantains, even lobster for cheap. They will bring you a table on the beach and you eat right there and have it for the whole day. If you are in the Northern Coast area you definetly should visit this unspoiled real Dominican beach
