Almost every hole on this beautiful golf course has an incredible view of the Caribbean, and is fun to play.

Beautiful and long beach, you can walk for hours. Many stray dogs on the beach. We are dog lovers so we were not bothered. The vendors kept following us. There were many vendors on the beach.

played the course (regrettably) with 4 friends on 4th.Oct.2014. We have played this course previously as we are residents and although the greens were bad before, the whole course is now a disaster.. no maintenance whatsoever and the management should be ashamed to charge anyone believing this is (was) a world famous course. Still awaiting the back 9 holes to be opened and then the front 9 holes will be rebuilt, but this is no reason to totally ignore what is otherwise a magnificent venue. I feel sorry for the Caddies and those who have to earn a living from the establishment. There are now 5 guys who will not be returning..ever ! .. but does anyone care ? obviously not.

Played two "rounds" week of March 1-8. Only reason I went back for the second round was the proximately to my hotel and bad golf was better than no golf. Only 9 holes are open (the front 9) and if these are the good 9 holes I can only imagine the condition of the bad ones. On the first round (you play the 9 holes twice), I lost three balls in puddles in bunkers where my caddie could not find the ball with a rake. While it had rained earlier in the day- there clearly is a drainage issue here. While there are several holes on the ocean and the course is in a great scenic location, I do not beleive there was one green that was not beat up/chewed up, crab grassed up or otherwise where you could depend on the ball actually rolling. On the second round the bunkers were dry BUT they had ZERO sand in them and were like concrete. You could (and should) putt out of them as they were in as good of putting conditions as the greens.I play a lot of public golf courses that get a lot of play and this was comparable to a poorly maintained municipal course and just not worth the money or traveling to if you are staying more than 15 minutes away.I hope by next year (I beleive it will be that long before this course wil lhave 18 playable holes) they will turn this course around. The price is fair (they were charging 59 with tax) BUt they require that you use Caddies ($20 plus tip) which increased the cost to around $100. When I pay $100 for a round of golf, I expect a lot better experience than the one I had.

I played Playa Grande on 10/9/2013. This is a beautifully laid out course and I have no doubt that when finished, it will live up to the hype. Right now, however, the greens are the worst I've seen on any course anywhere. There are actually divots 3+inches deep all over the greens and at least 50% of the grass on the putting surface was dead.. It was absolutely atrocious. If you are halfway serious about golfing, you will be disappointed, especially after paying $100+/ round. The caddies, while nice, aren't very knowledgeable and often gave me the wrong distances to the targets. I shot 39 going out and opted for a refund instead of replaying. I trust that the owners of this course will show some pride and revive this beautifully designed course.

Well, Playa Grand Golf course was a great course! Not too expensive, but challenging. The famous Playa Grand was just that!"A very big, clean, or a place to party if you want! Also, quiet places abound ed at the "OLD" Playa Grande!Well now, somebody from New York must know something we don't.9 holes only are open for now (for $50).The beach is more or less limited to 100 meters instead of 1200.Get there early or you will have a three quarter km walk UPHILL to your car.It just ain't the same! They plan on spending over250 million US dollars when they are done.

The humpback whales is a must see spectacle when they are in the area every winter. Thank you for your review.

We did not go to the golf course but we did go to Playa Grande beach. It was a blast riding the waves. Not a great beach for kids as it is quite wavy but for those of you who like to play in the waves, this is the beach for you. So much fun!!

Playa Grande is a golf course just above the cliffs and partly you have to play over the sea.Caddy and buggy are mandatory. Nobody cares about a handicap. The atmosphere is very relaxed and you can enjoy a reasonably maintained 18 hole course; also 9 holes are possible. Driving range and short game trainig facilities are also offered..As there is no bigger hotel closer than 10 km from this site, it is not very busy and mostly no reservation is required.Rates at the Playa Grande Golf Course are as follows (February 2012):18 Holes US$95.00 09 Holes US$65.00The green fee rates above include a shared cart. A 16% tax surcharge will be applied to the rates above. Additional rates are available for same-day replay, golf packages, walking optional and twilight play. Caddies are mandatory. Caddy fee for 18 holes is US$20.00 and for 9 holes is US$12.00, payable directly to caddy. For frequent players a package deal is offered.Tips: - The twilight fees (from 3 pm) are much cheaper. - Luis is a good golf pro and head of the caddies. Very recommendable.
