We live on Whidbey Island, and the bluff and beach trail at Ebey's Landing is one of our favorites. Glorious 180 degree views across the water and of mountains. I think the round trip trail is about 3 miles, but there are signs that show the trails and distances. There are some narrow areas of the trail up on the bluff, so caution should be used. Parking area is a WA state park, and requires either a day or annual pass (recommend the $30 annual Discover pass vs. the $10 daily fee--pass it good at any WA state parks). You can park along Hill Road, too, for free and just walk a little farther.

Ebey's Landing is where the history of Whidbey Island, (and the state of Washington), started. Please come and see for yourself

Sat on the beach with a picnic in the drizzle but was welcomed by the park volunteers, and shall return for more exploration. Stunning nature and lovely sea views, and short hikes.

Ebey's Landing consists of a lot of areas, but the part we visited is considered Ebey's Landing State Park (part of the reserve), so if you park in the small lot, a Discover Pass is required. The Bluff Trail makes for an awesome walk even if it was overcast most of the day. I believe the trail keeps going and going, but if taking the loop, I would suggest taking the steps up to the top of the bluff. The side trail up top to some historic houses (closed in the off season) and the prairie overlook is worth the time. Fairly easy stroll after getting to the top. If you keep going, I think you end up at Fort Ebey, but once you get the past the lagoon down below, that is the time to head down to the beach or turn around and head back. There are no steps and the trail to the beach is practically straight down. Irregardless of how you do it, Ebey's Landing is a great place to enjoy the scenery and get a little history too. The cemetery also has some history worth exploring. Ebey's Landing is a great Whidbey escape.

the scenery is lovely, the place is quiet, and there are nice paths that lead to the waterfront. Definitely worth a try

Note To Self: If you replace your soft-as-slippers running shoes with bona fide hard-as-a-cinder-block 'hiking shoe' then walking this area for an hours is your own fault. Such was my epiphany about half way through this otherwise glorious trek. As John Candy said in the movie Planes, Trains, and Automobiles: "These dogs are barkin' !!" Patchwork fields, shore vistas, purple wildflowers, great hiking all around. Enjoy!

Visitor's center was well appointed and informative. Good hiking trail- we did not finish the nearly 4 miles loop to the bluff but walked along great fields with wild flowers, spectacular view of the cove. Highly recommended.

This is not too strenuous - there is a climb at the beginning but then it's rolling. We didn't go all the way to the end to get down to the beach because of time but enjoyed really beautiful views of the sound all along the trail. Saw a few little snakes too, which thrilled the boys.

This trail is amazing for its beauty and being accessible to most people who can walk. It is 3.5 miles and about two hours. You can either do entire trail which leads up to the bluff overlooking the sound or just along the beach. We did the entire trail of 3.5 and it took about 2 plus hours with many stops. BRING a camera and some water. The pictures give you some perspective of the scenery. Since this is in northern Whidbey, the weather is drier and less damp because of the Olympic Mountains. The trail is very easy to use and when you get to the northern part to come down keep going to you get to the switchbacks. They are easier to use. If you have walking sticks, then can help in a couple of places. Many of the visitors had children and they liked it as well. There is a bathroom at the beginning of the trail. And I would suggest to take a Lunch to sit and watch the Puget Sound. We saw seals and I would imagine in certain seasons even whales. There usually is a Volunteer to help with information and map. It really is simple and fun. Take extra time if concerned. Please bring camera. If you park on the road in front of the park, there is no State Park Fee which is $10 per day. We found plenty of parking.

A fairly longish walk from the parking area through farmland takes you out to amazing views on the bluff after a short but steep climb. We were there late on a Sunday and saw the cruise ships coming up the channel

My younger son and I visited this site as part of a camping trip with some friends. There is a small visitor center/ranger station where you can buy patches, or postcards, and then it's a short hike to the Block house. Sadly, although the visitor center was open, the house was not, so we couldn't go in to read the informational signs etc. We took some photos with the block house and then hiked out to the bluff and back. The views were awesome, especially since there was some mist coming in from the water. Great photo op!

If you want to take in a views of the Puget Sound then head on down and take in the views from here. It's a serene place to go and marvel in the beautiful place we call home.

Fourth of July weekend brought some friends to the Island who had been to Ebey's Landing and hiked for years. This time we went to the cemetery with the historic markers and Block house, taking the back roads where the families of the pioneers still live.

It’s not well marked and I have never seen a crowd there; it’s a small piece of solitude that’s hard to find today. There are places to park and then you walk through the sea grass, climb over nature’s barrier of last winter’s driftwood to find the beach. You can have the fairly narrow sand and pebble beach all to yourself to walk or you can just to sit and have your moment of Zen.

Located on the west side of Whidbey and within minutes of Coupeville, I came here for a day hike. There are a few different access points to the bluff trail. I came from down on the beach which involves a steady climb to get to the bluff but after that it is a couple miles of relatively flat and stunning hiking. At the end I sat down for a snack and a bald eagle flew up right in front of me and it was incredible. I was told if you want to continue down to the beach to walk back on the beach (rather than the bluff) you can do that too although be sure to wear sturdy shoes because it is apparently steep. Another hiker I asked about it told me my hiking boots were a good choice.
